The hottest competition in town is for the coveted Cape Fear Literacy Spelling Bee Championship trophy. Held on the third Thursday in September at the Scottish Rite Masonic Temple, the CFLC Spelling Bee has become a community tradition. It’s easy to join the fun. It’s not like the scary school bees where you had to stand all by yourself on the stage. In our adult Spelling Bee, teams of three spellers work together to correctly write their final answer on an overhead transparency.
